FAMILY INSTITUTE OF VIRGINIA
The Family Institute of Virginia provides a broad range of family and individual therapy services as well as professional training to clients in Richmond, Virginia and from around the country. We also conduct specialized research in both the practice and theory of how best to respond to individuals and families in distress. The Institute was established in 1977 by Director Joan E. Winter, Ed.D., and is located in a restored home on Monument Avenue in Richmond’s historic Museum District.
Our goal is to compassionately lead our clients who are committed to change in a process of learning, discovery, and growth that will enable them to live happier, more fulfilling lives.
